AJ was born in Congo and came to England when he was two years old. He got caught up in gang culture but now he has turned his back on his old lifestyle and is determined to make a better future for himself.
He has a natural talent for bringing people together, and motivating others around him to make a difference.
True Vision Productions is a multi-award winning documentary company. We specialise in feature length, observational film making which often challenges mainstream perception and gives a voice to those often ignored. AJ Nakasila and Katy Sheppard from True Vision made the original ‘Eye for an Eye’ films for Channel 4 which has branched into the larger project.
bfm Media Group will be facilitating the training process of the young citizen journalists on this project and providing access to their editing suites at 3 Mills Studios. There will also be apprenticeship and mentoring opportunities via bfm magazine, bfm International Film Festival and bfm Film/TV production.
As one of the pioneer directors to use DV as a means of telling stories that otherwise could not be told, Marc made a seminal film on the Anti-Globalisation movement for the BBC called Global Protest. Marc went on to direct films for other broadcasters including the first critical film on the Burning Man festival commissioned by Channel 4.
As a visual artist Marc has collaborated with some of the world’s most interesting contemporary artists including Matthew Herbert, Faithless, the Beastie Boys, Michael Nyman, Ben Okri, Nitin Sawhney, Cirque du Soleil and Jamie Cullum.
He is currently directing a feature length documentary and online project with Gael Garcia Bernal on political resistance around the world.
